With the help of MiCasa, a nonprofit housing developer, the residents of this 28-unit apartment building in the Brightwood neighborhood were able to form a permanently affordable cooperative and take control of the building from their landlord who had grossly neglected the property.

 

Stoiber+Associates was invited onto the team to help improve accessibility and unit layouts, upgrade finishes in the unit kitchens and bathrooms, upgrade the HVAC systems and overall ventilation, remediate hazardous materials, and improve interior and exterior common areas including the front entry, mailboxes, laundry, hallways, stairwells, a new community room, tenant and building storage, and the rear courtyard.
