HART FOR ANIMALS
APRIL, 2016
The vision for the construction of a new 12,000 square foot animal began in 2008 when HART for Animals - a non-profit organization working to improve the lives of animals - had outgrown their existing facility in Garrett County, MD. The site for the new facility was a deeply wooded lot in Western Maryland and construction was to be completed in two separate phases. The first phase required the development of an envelope for a new reception area, medical center, boarding wings, as well as the groundwork prep for a shelter wing. The second phase included the completion of the shelter wing and all remaining sitework, signage and lighting.
HART Animal Center now covers 6.5 acres and is the home of the Patricia H. Kirwan Center, walking trails and exercise runs. The Kirwan Center contains the Bredel Clinic, the Bed ‘n Bark Inn, the Squires Reception Area, MuttWorks grooming spa, and the Chrostowski Adoption Wing.
