One of Stoiber + Associates' oldest clients, Optica (formerly The Optical Society) is a non-profit devoted to advancing the field of optics and photonics.

In 1990, Stoiber + Associates assisted Optica in acquiring this six-story office building in the heart of Dupont Circle, and it has served as the organization’s headquarters ever since. The latest round of renovations is the realization of a 2014 master plan.

 

The building facade was updated with re-pointed and color-stained brick, a new window wall system, entry vestibule, signage, and new window openings at the west facade.

 

The interior was outfitted with a building management system for fully automated lighting control, new offices and break-out meeting rooms, an expanded conference room with optimized acoustics, and a top-floor employee lounge with operable glass walls that open to an observation deck overlooking Dupont Circle.
